Volunteering
The County Volunteering Project which has been running for the past three years moved into a new phase in April 2010 and is now able to provide a new level of support for voluntary and community groups and people interested in volunteering in Hastings, Rother, Wealden, Eastbourne and Lewes.
The Project, managed by Sarah Hodgetts, County Volunteering Development Co-ordinator, provides consistent infrastructure support across the county working alongside existing Volunteer Centre Officers to help deliver the 6 core functions of a Volunteer Centre: brokerage; marketing; good practice development; developing volunteering opportunities; policy response and campaigning, and strategic development of volunteering.
The team is working across East Sussex, with the County Volunteering Development Co-ordinator and Team Administrator based at the 3VA office in Eastbourne and 3 Volunteering Support Officers delivering outreach services across the 5 districts.
Lee Shepherd is the Volunteering Support Officer for Eastbourne and the Lewes District. Lee’s role is to work with volunteer-involving organisations throughout the Lewes District and to advise groups with recruiting, supporting and managing volunteers. Lee is happy to assist groups with whatever their specific needs in volunteer management are and will aim to be available to meet at times and venues that are most convenient for staff working with volunteers.
Lee also helps members of the public living in the Lewes District, who are interested in volunteering to access the information they need to learn more about volunteering, and find suitable volunteering opportunities.
Lee is working in both Eastbourne and the Lewes District each week and can be contacted on 07535 992 638, or at the County Volunteering project office on (01323) 301757. You can also email lee.shepherd@3va.org.uk
