2026 Vision: Your Community, Your Future

Lewes District Council are currently working to produce the Core Strategy document that will replace the Lewes District Local Plan and form an important part of the Local Development Framework (LDF). This process of consultation began on 21 May 2010 and will run until 16 July 2010.

LDC are asking as many people as possible to let them know what they think about how the towns and villages within the district could evolve and grow between the present time and 2026.

LDC have produced a number of documents that form the Core Strategy Issues and Emerging Options Topic Papers. There are 9 topic papers in total that LDC would like people’s views and comments. At the end of each of the topic papers are a number of questions that they would like views on.  View the draft documentation

Copies of the documentation are available at Southover House, local libraries within the District as well as libraries in Uckfield, Saltdean, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill.

Peter Gardiner, Lead Councilor for Planning said: “We need to develop a “portrait” of Lewes District today including identifying current issues and challenges and then develop a vision for how Lewes District could be in 2026. I would urge residents and businesses to take time to look at the topic papers and let us know what they think. We want views and comments so that we can develop a Core Strategy document that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people who live and work within the district.”
